I love theseJan 04, 2010
By Emily Church
"Proud_Mommy1981"
I am taking these for hair growth, since I've heard Prenatal Vitamins work for that, though I am not pregnant.
The review above says that they are low compared to RDA on a couple nutrients, which I found to be correct.
However, since these are a food source vitamin, I figure my body will be absorbing a LOT more than it would from a non-food-source Vitamin, so was less worried about it, as I think I'll probably get the rest from the food I eat every day.
The things I LOVE about this vitamin is that I can take them on an EMPTY stomach, and they are perfectly fine, no upset stomach or anything. Not even a little. Plus, they are non-constipating, and most prenatal vitamins are horrible about that due to their non-food iron source. I have been taking these for about 5 months, and I give them 5 stars compared to any other vitamin I've tried.

Great Vitamins for Pregnancy and Breastfeeding!Apr 25, 2010
By The Mantooth Family I have been taking these vitamins since I found out I was pregnant and continue to take them now that I am breastfeeding. I love them because they don't smell bad, are easy to swallow, and kept me healthy throughout pregnancy.
These vitamins come in capsules, which makes them easy to swallow and minimizes the smell greatly. I had serious bouts of nausea during pregnancy, that were exacerbated by odors. I never had trouble taking these vitamins. They also helped with nausea/"morning sickness" in general, making going to work that much easier.
I never got sick during my pregnancy, and it was during the swine flu pandemic. I work in a position where I am exposed to many different people from all walks of life, and from every region in the United States. My husband works at a home health facility with nurses, and probably exposed me to many different germs. Everyone at both our jobs got sick at some point. We never did. Whenever my husband started to feel a cold coming on I would have him take a dose of these vitamins for a few days, and it was enough to ward off the illness.
In regards to the sprouts comments, you still have to maintain a healthy diet, and everything is good in moderation. The amount of sprouts contained in this supplement are minute, and probably processed to remove bacteria. Everything you eat that grows from the ground has a potential to carry some type of bacteria.
**Please note that we eat a very healthy and balanced diet, to maintain a good state of general health. You should not depend solely on vitamins as a immune system boost. Remember that you are eating for two!

True prenatal nutritionDec 21, 2010
By emzaf I love taking this vitamin! As a holistic nutritionist I let most of my vitamins/minerals come from my food, a green powder drink and omega 3.6.9's during my 1st two trimesters. As 3rd trimester rolled around, I knew I would need to kick it up a notch on the vitamin intake and I chose these. There's never any stomach upset whether on an empty or full belly. My energy level, sleep, skin and hair have all been GREAT!!! Highly recommend. Since I've heard good things, I plan to try New Chapter Organics for my next round of vitamins just to switch it up a bit. Not that there anything wrong with Garden of Life's- Raw Prenatal. Hope you are loving your pregnancy as much as I am!

Excellent food-based nutrientsJan 07, 2010
By C Positive- These vitamins are food based from raw ingredients, so the nutrients are more easily utilized by the body. I like the idea of having vitamins in capsule form because it seems much easier for the body to break down and use than cement-hard tablets. They are also very easy on the stomach and didn't cause any nausea (like the prescription prenatals I used last pregnancy). I'm really glad to see a prenatal with higher levels of vitamin D3 (this prenatal contains 1,400IU per serving while many others only contain 400IU), but I still am taking a separate vitamin D3 (my midwife suggests up to 10,000IU per day in pregnancy depending on your blood levels). They contain probiotics and food blends which I like.
Negative- I had a bit of a hard time swallowing the capsules while in the midst of pregnancy nausea. I'm usually really good at swallowing pills, but while dealing with nausea, many pills would make me gag and I'd have to sip a drink THEn shove the pill in my mouth and quickly swallow. I have both these and the new chapter organics prenatal and I found the new chapter prenatals a bit smaller and easier to handle (They are solid caplets and smaller than the capsules). I'll probably keep both types on hand. I also made sure to take extra vitamins because I don't think either of the prenatals contained adequate levels of certain nutrients like zinc. Many don't have adequate levels of calcium and magnesium because those take up so much space in a vitamin.

I feel SO much better.Oct 06, 2011
By J.K. I'm 26 years old and this is my first pregnancy. I purchased this prenatal at the recommendation of a friend and I'm so glad I took her advice!! I was almost 8 weeks when she suggested it and I had a tiny bit of nausea and felt tired ALL the time. So after about a week or two of taking this Prenatal I noticed that food didn't bother, I didn't feel like throwing up at the grocery store, and had more energy. The only issue I still wanted addressed was my acne problem (I've had moderately-bad acne all my life). Now I'm 17 weeks and I've been drinking a small cup of coffee in the mornings, eating Cheezits and other disastrous food for acne sufferers, but I haven't noticed any new acne. And the other blemishes are definitely healing up!!! I'm very encouraged. I've tried Probiotics alone, dairy-free diet, no caffeine, birth control, face washes, etc... and I eat fairly well. But nothing has made a difference like this Prenatal. So, THANK YOU Garden Of Life! Also, about 5 months ago I decided to stop wearing foundation to see if that would help. I feel self conscious sometimes, but knowing that my skin is healing and may one day be beautiful it's worth it.
