EPA (Eicosapentaenoic) is a polyunsaturated fatty acid and a precursor to the anti-inflammatory prostaglandin series 3. Much of the interest surrounding omega-3 fatty acids arose from the discovery that Greenland Inuit and coastal Japanese populations consume high levels of omega-3 fatty acids and have remarkably healthy cardiovascular systems. Since then, extensive research on omega-3 fatty acids from fish indicates that several different mechanisms of action are responsible for their possible heart healthy benefits.
The omega-3 fatty acids, EPA and DHA, play important structural roles as components of cellular membranes. Ongoing clinical studies support the role of EPA and omega-3 fatty acids in health and disease. |

Nordic Naturals is a very respected company. I first tried it when they gave out samples at the local co-op and then a friend gave me a bottle. Make sure this is the 120 count bottle you're buying. The title says 120ct (that means 120 capsules) but the picture shows the 60 ct bottle.
Taste: zero to none fish taste, the lemon really masks the fish taste. And I'm one of those who crush the gel, it's very pleasant.
Safety: It does have the statement on the bottle that says it has no contaminants, some brands don't say that and I'd stay away from those brands.
Cost: It's often hard to compare costs because they'll give you a per oz. price or per capsule price, but each brand contains differing amounts of omega-3 per capsule and the serving size is different. To get a true cost, I calculate the price per mg of total Omega-3 per bottle. I know that some brands may contain supplements other than O-3, such as vitamins but this is the most consistent method since most people are buying fish oil for the Omega-3.
So Nordic Naturals ProEPA 120 ct/1000mg contains 60 servings at 1230mg per serving Omega-3. That gives you 73.8g of Omega-3 per bottle. This info isn't on the webpage, but I have the bottle and took it from the back of the bottle, or you can get it from their website. So just divide the cost by 73.8 to give you the price per g/Omega-3.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product.

"Now-I Groove!"
I buy this brand of Fish Oil because it is the one my Gastro doc recommends. No fishy burps or after taste. No side effects at all as long as I have a little food in my stomach when I take it. Great product!

This product was recommended by my neighborhood holistic pharmacist as a cholestrol reducer.
I had purchased it from another site but couldn't remember which one.
This is my second order because my cholestrol went down 60 points in 3 months and so I will continue
